My Approach

As a doula, I have many options, methods and tools to help make your labor experience a positive and productive one. However, my role is not to tell you how to labor. My role is to work with you to make sure that you’re comfortable with whatever helps you cope or progress. This is a partnership.

Throughout the process, we will work on a comprehensive birthing plan, customized with your preferences. This might incorporate music, aromatherapy, or massage techniques.  

Though I will make suggestions for creating a calming atmosphere, you're in control of your experience. If you want to soak in a tub for hours, or labor in silence with the lights off, my role is to make sure your preferences are honored to the fullest extent possible. This is your labor and you deserve to have a constant support person tending to your needs while you do some very hard, but important work.
