Our daughter’s birth timing landed in an early period COVID restrictions, with hospital policies changing on a weekly basis in response to evolving public health data. The uncertainties of that time only compounded the normal challenges everyone prepares to face with labor and delivery.

We were extremely fortunate to locate Caitlin Martin as a doula resource we could lean on. She possesses an innate empathy and tranquility which provided tremendous relief during the final stretch of pregnancy. On the night that pre-labor contractions began, Caitlin joined us into the wee hours of the morning and helped us proceed along. Since this was our second child, I cannot begin to emphasize how invaluable her presence was to lend physical and emotional support in the comfort of our own home. As compared with being the sole caregiver on our first child, the difference was truly night and day! For any father-to-be who is considering Caitlin’s services, I will gladly attest that her involvement is one of the best decisions you can make for yourself and your partner.

To our disappointment, hospital policies did not allow non-spousal visitors, so once pre-labor advanced we had to part ways with Caitlin. But she kept in contact throughout our delivery process and offered her graceful presence in follow-up appointments afterward. We were lucky to have exceptional hospital staff tending to our needs, but we still lamented that Caitlin’s could not join us for that portion. For those who get to enjoy that added comfort, I can only imagine how much it will help.

I had such a traumatic first-birth experience, so finding additional support for our second-go was incredibly important! Caitlin immediately stuck out during our doula search and I am so relieved that we decided to employ her services. Caitlin has this very soothing, peaceful energy and is so empathetic and relatable. She was able to answer all my pressing questions and address my concerns as well as provide invaluable assistance during labor. She’s got all the tricks! Caitlin’s postpartum check-in’s were super beneficial, and she also directed me to a great local lactation-consultant and birth photographer. I can’t emphasize how important her role was in our birth/labor/postpartum journey and will be forever grateful to her. 

In short – Caitlin was amazing! Truly, don’t hesitate to invite her doula services into your life. You will be so glad you did.
